Darbara was rushed to Guru Ram Das Hospital near Gurdwara Shaheedan Sahib where doctors declared him dead.

Another employee who was eyewitness fainted after the incident. He was taken to Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Vallah.

Sukhbir absconded immediately after the incident.

As per initial probe, a family dispute is stated to be the reason behind the incident.

Gurcharan Singh Grewal, former general secretary, SGPC, termed the incident as unfortunate.

“Both the employees were having lunch when the incident took place. We don’t tolerate such behaviour. Sukhbir Singh was suspended from immediate effect. An internal probe has been ordered while police officials were also informed about this,” said Grewal.

Harsandeep Singh, SHO Kotwali police station, said investigation was on.
