The two-day lifestyle exhibition, Shaadi Wish held in the city, brought up some ideas and fashion trends that could pep up the wedding wardrobe. Showcasing the latest collections from the wedding industry and lifestyle sectors, the product profile consisted of wedding jewels, trousseau fashion in peppy hues, hand embroidered lehenga-cholis, wedding wear, festive shopping, traditional and fashion jewellery, wedding accessories, lifestyle refinements, footwear, bags and more.
Designers sourced from all over the country, each aspect of the big, fat Punjabi wedding has been catered to. The major trends displayed included organic fabrics, pastels and hand embroideries. “The traditional embroideries are back in fashion with all their royalty and subtle style. Since big designers are giving a push to intricate hand work, this wedding season too, embroideries are in demand. Working best on all hues, pastels or deep tones, keeping in mind the concept of affordable fashion, hand-embroidered suits, fabrics, duppattas and sharara-sets are trending,” said Rashmi, an exhibitor from Ludhiana.
The organic duppattas were also one of the popular pick at the exhibition. Archna Kalra, who came to exhibit a range of organic fabrics, brought a collection of jaamvaar work duppattas done in beautiful colours.” These duppattas are 100% mulmul, hand woven and dyed with organic colours. With fashion preference no becoming responsible, the demand for organic fabrics is increasing and it is also good for weaving industry,” she said.
Another trend that stood out was subtle tone-on-tone embroidery. Popular in pastel hues, the style adds a hint of royalty to your style statement. “Thanks to popular designer like Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla and Sabhyasachi, the floral prints and subtle embroideries are once again trending. Despite the fact that it’s the winter season and darker tones of colour are preferred, a lot of customers demanded pastels and light work on the fabrics. The trend is going to continue till Spring Summer, 2020,” said Archna.
