Traders of Jalalabad town are observing a complete strike today to protest alleged police inaction in the recent incident of a shop being set ablaze by unidentified miscreants.

All the markets remained closed as traders demanded strict action against the culprits and immediate steps to ensure the safety of business establishments.

Notably, two motorcycle-borne miscreants had sprinkled petrol on a three-story clothing shop on Railway Road in Jalalabad on the night of October 8 and 9, thereby reducing the entire stock to ashes.

Beopar Mandal Jalalabad president Babbu Doda said that the traders had warned the police to nab the culprits within two days; otherwise, they would shut their shops.

He said that all the union representatives associated with the Beopar Mandal held a meeting on Friday evening and decided to shut their shops in protest on Saturday.

The traders have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and the assurance of safety for traders in Jalalabad town.
