Six booked for immigration frauds in Amritsar

The police have booked six persons in separate incidents for allegedly duping local residents on the pretext of sending them abroad.
The suspects have been identified as Lovepreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, both residents of Krishna Nagar; Surjit Singh Bawa of Kot Bhagat Singh; Jaibir Singh of Sultanwind village; Mahinder Bawa and Lovejit Singh.
Vikramjit Singh, a local resident, had lodged a complaint with the Ranjit Avenue police station. He said Lovepreet and his brother Gurpreet Singh, who run a travel agency, White Flied Company, took Rs2.35 lakh from him on the pretext of sending him and his friends Harmeet Singh and Vishal Kapur abroad. He said they neither sent them abroad nor returned their money. He said they did not have requisite licence for running a travel agency.
Similarly, Paramjodhbir Singh told the Division B police station that Surjit, along with Jaibir, Mahinderpal and Lovejit, took huge amount from him and several other people for sending them abroad.
Two separate cases under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act have been registered against the suspects.
