Six held with 2 pistols, Rs 2 lakh fake currency

The special cell of the Amritsar (Rural) police have arrested six persons and recovered two pistols along with 21 live cartridges, Rs 2 lakh in fake Indian currency apart from two motorcycles and five mobile phones from their possession.

Those arrested were identified as Ashish Kumar, Karandeep Singh, Kashmir Singh and Jashandeep Singh of Tarn Taran, Vishal of the Islamabad area and Arshdeep Singh of Lahorimal village.

Maninder Singh, SSP Amritsar (Rural), said the special cell got specific input that the above said accused were involved in criminal activities and carrying firearms. The informer also disclosed that the accused also had fake currency. He said the accused were hiding beneath an under construction flyover at Boparai village.

Following the tip-off, police teams were dispatched to the spot and the accused were arrested. A case under Section 61 (2) and 29 of the BNS and the Arms Act was registered against the six accused. They were produced in a court and brought on police remand for further interrogation.
