Lawyers of the district courts complex are perturbed over the rising cases of theft at their chambers located on the premises here. Even a police chowki is also located in the complex.
The Amritsar Bar Association has approached the local police, asking them to strengthen security and start night patrolling to instil fear among miscreants indulging in thefts.
Following this, the police have increased the number of cops at the courts complex police chowki and also started night patrolling after sealing different entrance points of the district courts.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Harpal Singh also visited the complex and met the Bar association members. They informed the police about the chambers targeted by thieves.
Gurpreet Singh Panesar, president of the association, said unscrupulous elements had even stolen copper wires of air-conditioners. He said they have already lodged a complaint with the Civil Lines police in this regard. The police had arrested thieves, including two junk dealers. However, theft instances continue unabated.
