Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, member, National Institute of Social Defence (NISD); and special member, National Consultative Committee on De-addiction and Rehabilitation (NCCDR), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, on Tuesday announced that a sports-specific awareness programme would be held in the border district.

He said the ministry was ready to provide sports kits to youth clubs, schools and colleges in a bid to keep the youth away from drugs.

He added that, in the kits, equipment for three sports — cricket, football and volleyball — would be available.

To channel the energy of youngsters positively, the ministry was ready to give funds to schools and colleges to organise de-addiction awareness programmes on campuses, he said.
