Amritsar: NCC cadets of Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Chabhal, for the session 2024-25, were enrolled under the supervision of Commanding Officer Barinder Kumar (11 Punjab Battalion, Amritsar) and his PI staff. Subedar B Indwal and Constable TP Singh selected 29 cadets of senior wing and 26 cadets of junior wing on the basis of their physical capabilities in the presence of ANOs Karamjit Kaur and Baljinder Singh.The school management and Principal Anureet Bawa motivated the cadets to serve the country with enthusiasm.

Hindu college

Two students of Hindu College, Tanvi and Mukund, both students of BCA III, gave a commendable performance in Guru Nanak Dev University’s (GNDU) final examination and inscribed their names in the merit list. Tanvi came third and Mukund eighth in the merit list. Hindu College Principal, Sanjay Khanna, congratulated both and wished them his best for their future. He said it had been 100 years since Hindu College was established and that the rich traditions that were followed over these years regarding academics and sports were still prevalent.

SSSS college of commerce

The students of SSSS College of Commerce for Women, Amritsar, have once again excelled in the GNDU examinations, by securing top positions in the merit list released by the university. The students achieved top ranks in the BSc Economics, BCom Financial Services, BCom and BCA programmes. Kashish Kapoor (BSc (Eco) VI) secured the first position in the university with a score of 82.4 per cent while Janvi (BCom (FS) VI) ranked second in the university and first in the district; Chanpreet Kaur (BCom VI), Aleena Singh (BCom VI), Samridhi (BCA VI), Chahat (BCA VI), also secured merit positions. Director Jagdish Singh and Principal Dr Navdeep Kaur congratulated the faculty and students for this commendable success.

Guru Nanak Dev University

The Department of Placement and Career Enhancement of Guru Nanak Dev University organised employability skills training workshops on the university premises for the final year female students. Dr Palwinder Singh, dean, Academic Affairs, distributed the certificates to students on successful completion of the programme. He expressed his appreciation for the diligent efforts of the department in conducting the workshops. He said such programmes were very much necessary for the overall personality development of the students. Bharti Chadda from Mahindra Pride Classroom conducted the workshop over six days. As many as 250 female students from the various departments of the university participated in these workshops. Dr Amit Chopra, director, Department of Placement and Career Enhancement said the workshop was offered free of cost.
