The Amritsar Literary Festival and Book Fair-2025 is set to begin at the historic Khalsa College on November 15.
The fair — to be held from November 15 to 19 — will be presided over by Pro-Chancellor and Khalsa College Governing Council Secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. Principal Atam Singh Randhawa said the fair had become an important event for the college.
“Literary scholars and Punjabi lovers from across the country, and the world, plan their visit to Amritsar according to the (festival) dates. Almost all departments of the college are helping the Punjabi department in preparing for the event,” he added.
Fair coordinator Parminder Singh said preparations for the fair were being ensured by various teams.
During the five-day fair, different literary events will be held, with S Chhina presiding over the
inaugural session.
A special session on ‘Amritsar sifti da ghar’ will be dedicated to the 450th foundation day of Amritsar.
Several scholars, writers and poets — including Kulvir Gozra, Anirudh Kala Sanwal Dhami, Ajaib Hundal, and Amarjit Singh Grewal — will be part of the festival.
The programme will be dedicated to various issues, and will honour students. Twenty needy students will be given the Chaman Lal Bhalla Scholarship in the presence of US-based Dr Varinder Bhalla, the chief guest at the event.
Amritsar Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Surinder Pal will attend as the special guest.
A children’s poetry ‘darbar’ will be organised by Sukhi Bath, a migrant social worker.
