Amritsar: The annual junior ‘Metanoia IV’ festival was organised at Stalwarts World School. The chief guests, Dr Rakesh Arora and Prabjeet Singh Arora inaugurated the programme themed “Aspire to Inspire.” Students from Playgroup to Class I participated in the event. The event began with a quote of Guru Gobind Singh: “Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Eha,” which translates to — never shy away from doing good and strive for victory in whatever tasks you undertake. Among the prominent figures presented during the programmed — were Ramanujan, APJ Abdul Kalam, Mary Kom Helen Keller and Rani Lakshmi Bai. An example of the ideal relationship between a guru and their disciple was illustrated through Dronacharya and Eklavya’s story. Principal Manisha Dhanuka expressed gratitude for the support of parents in helping with the presentations.

Spring Dale Senior School

Spring Dale Senior School was abuzz with activities as the school organised a two-day personality development camp for Class III students along with their parents and grandparents. Spring Dale Educational Society Chairman Sahiljit Singh Sandhu said the camp witnessed active participation in the team coordination activities, sports and fun games. While the days began with yoga and meditation, followed by an array of physical activities such as different types of races tug-of-war, obstacle race etc. Dhairya Badhwar was adjudged the best athlete among boys and Rubani Kaur Sandhu was declared the best athlete among girls.

DAV College

To bridge the gap between theory and application, DAV College, Amritsar’s Postgraduate Department of Computer Science and Information Technology and Institution’s Innovation Council conducted a three-day training-cum-workshop on ‘Integrating Machine Learning with Design and Critical Thinking’. Dr Naina Handa and Dr Preeti Kamra from the Department of Computer Science were the resource persons. They said that Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science (DS) and Machine Learning (ML) were the pillars of the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’. Professor Vikram Sharma, head, Computer Science and IT, said, “Machine learning is undeniably the future of technology. It is crucial for students to not only grasp theoretical concepts but also understand how to apply them in real-world scenarios.” Over the course of three days, nearly 30 students attended various sessions, workshops, and engaged in hands-on activities.

Shri Ram Ashram Public School

Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar, organised the annual function for students of Classes LKG and UKG. The theme for the event was a ‘Cruise Party’. Students depicted how they enjoyed themselves on a cruise to relieve themselves of stress after their annual examination. Principal Vinodita Sankhyan extended a hearty welcome to the audience and inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The students presented a dance drama, showcasing how people going on the cruise remained connected to their culture throughout the journey. Their journey on the cruise depicted a blend of Indian and Western culture. The students’ acting and dance left the audience spellbound.

Apeejay School

Jalandhar: Apeejay School, Tanda Road, hosted a science exhibition titled ‘Explore Imagination’ showcasing the creativity and scientific curiosity of pre-primary wing students. The event aimed at fostering a love for science and exploration amongst the young minds. The models of students of Nursery ranged from body parts and sense organs to types of houses and structures of skyscrapers. A few models also showcased the natural world depicting fruits with seeds, farmhouses, types of birds, seed germination, parts of plants and sources of water. Students of Class KG took an interest in earth’s dynamics, with models on rotation of earth, greenhouse effect and water pollution. School coordinator Deepti Kaushal acknowledged the students’ hard work and creativity.

National Institute of Technology

A two-day athletics meet was organised by Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar. The fest was inaugurated by Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma. Various events including 100 meter race, javelin throw, relay races, spoon and three-legged races were held during the meet. The chief guest on the final day was Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, SSP (Rural). Durga Prasad (final year ECE) was declared best athlete among boys and Naseem Akhtar (second year CSE) was adjudged the best athlete among girls. Bhullar and Director Prof Binod Kumar Kanujia distributed prizes among winners.

Prem Chand Markanda SD College

Prem Chand Markanda SD College for women organised a workshop on “Design thinking, critical thinking, and innovation ”. The workshop focused on candle-making. Money Luthra shared her expertise with students. The workshop showcased an array of wax varieties, including paraffin, palm, soy and beeswax. Luthra demonstrated essential candle-making processes such as pouring, rolling, dipping, and moulding, providing a hands-on experience to the participants.
