State govt plans series of events to mark 350th martyrdom anniversary of ninth Guru

The AAP candidate for the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, today announced that the Punjab government is set to launch a grand and inspiring series of events dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The programmes will commence on October 25 in New Delhi and will extend across Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

Sandhu informed that these sacred events will begin with an Ardas at the historic Gurdwara Sri Sis Ganj Sahib in New Delhi on October 25. On the same evening, a grand Kirtan Darbar will commence from Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib, where renowned Ragi Jathas from across the country will perform Shabad Kirtan.

He further stated that from November 1 to November 18, light and sound shows depicting the life, teachings and supreme sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib will be organised in all districts of Punjab. Through these shows, the story of Guru sahib's unparalleled martyrdom will be conveyed to the public at large.

The series of events will also reach Jammu and Kashmir. On November 18, a grand Kirtan Darbar will be organised in Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir). Following this, from November 19 to November 22, a massive Nagar Kirtan will commence from Srinagar and proceed through Jammu, Pathankot and Hoshiarpur, finally reaching Sri Anandpur Sahib. This spiritual journey will serve as a sacred remembrance of Guru Sahib's path of sacrifice.

The main events will take place from November 23 to November 25 at Sri Anandpur Sahib, where the concluding samagams will be organised. Sandhu said that the AAP government in Punjab led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ensured that the Guru sahib's supreme sacrifice and teachings reach every corner of the country and the world.

Sandhu added that special arrangements have been made for the accommodation of devotees. At the 'Chakk Nanki' Tent City, facilities have been arranged for the stay of 15,000 devotees daily.
