He said in the recent Performance Grading Index (PGI) organised by the Union Government, Punjab had earned the honour of being ‘No. 1’ in the entire India in the field of education.

“Punjab is also poised to become the leading state in the country in the National Achievement Survey. We are providing every support possible for the successful results of NAS,” he said.

He inspected Government Senior Secondary School, Thoba; Government Senior Secondary School, Gaggomahal; Government Senior Secondary School, Chamiari; and other schools in the district.

Meanwhile, pushing for better performance in NAS, the Education Department organised a one-day training workshop for private and aided-school teachers.

Satinderbir Singh, District Education Officer, Secondary, Amritsar, who was present during the training workshop, urged teachers to get maximum participation of students in the National Achievement Survey. He said this survey was to be conducted by the students of government schools as well as students of government aided, recognised, central and private schools.
