Stone crusher owners of block Hajipur and Talwara today alleged that crushers installed at the cost of crores have become a tool in the hands of the government. Their closure in Punjab is benefiting stone crusher owners in the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh who were increasing the prices of sand and gravel. These allegations were levelled during a protest held near the T-point of Hajipur.
The protesters submitted a memorandum to Mukerian DSP Kulwinder Singh Virk. Addressing the protest, Jatinder Pal Singh, Babbu Neelkanth and Jaswinder Pal Singh said that due to the new policies of the government regarding the operation of stone crushers, these often remain closed. They urged the government not to destroy the industry by implementing ‘hostile’ policies. The construction of Mukerian-Daulatpur railway line is also getting affected due to the closure of stone crushers, it was alleged.
