Shahzada Nand College, Green Avenue, Amritsar, celebrated ‘Sawan Mahotsav’ under the patronage of esteemed president of the college managing committee Sushma Mehra and Principal Reena Talwar.
The principal highlighted the cultural significance of Teej festival. She said Teej is primarily a girls’ festival and the aim of celebrating these occasions in college is to keep the students rooted with to rich culture. Staff and students were clad in traditional Punjabi attires during the celebrations and students enjoyed swing rides. Under the guidance of Prof Ramandeep from the Department of Music, students gave a spectacular performance of Punjabi folk songs. Baljit Randhawa from the Department of Punjabi and girls performed giddha. Mehndi competition was also organised by the Cosmetology Department. — TNS
