Students celebrated Gurpurab of Guru Gobind Singh

DAV Public School

Amritsar: DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, paid veneration to Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs on his birth anniversary. He was a great spiritual master, warrior, poet and philosopher. He was the one who institutionalised Khalsa and worked for the defence of Sikhism and Hinduism against the Muslim assault of Aurangzeb. The students recited shabads to invoke the blessings of the almighty for a prosperous year ahead. They also recited poems and read articles based on the teachings and philosophies of the Guru. They spoke about his ideals, values and ideology and pledged to tread the path shown by him. Pallavi Sethi, principal of the school, gave her best wishes to the students, staff and advised them to spread the message of service to serve the humanity on this special day.

Khalsa College for Women

The NSS Department of Khalsa College for Women (KCW) organised a seven-day camp here. After making the volunteers aware about the significance of the NSS Department, the students were taken to the adopted village, Kot Khalsa. Various activities were performed by the volunteers on the first day of the camp which included the cleanliness of the village and healthy interaction with the villagers. The students educated the females of the village about the importance of health and hygiene in life as healthy and hygienic living can save their family members from different health issues. The volunteers along with the NSS programme officers and other staff members also visited Gurdwara Bohri Sahib, which is situated in the same village.

Holy Heart Presidency School

Lohri festivities were held at Holy Heart Presidency School. The entire school community, including school’s chairman Vijay Seth, director Anjna Vijay Seth, director Vikram Seth and principal Shilpa Vikram Seth, and all faculty members, came together to celebrate this auspicious festival. The festivities began with a vibrant bonfire, symbolising the burning of old and welcoming new beginnings.
