On the occasion of World Environment Day, a team of students from the Government Senior Secondary School, Kot Khalsa, was honoured for winning the National Wipro Earthian Award.
The students were honoured at a state-level programme organised by the Punjab Government at the Indian School Of Business in Mohali. Cabinet Minister Dr Ravjot Singh and Environmentalist-turned-Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal for winning the National Wipro Earthian Award amongst 1,500 submissions from all over India.
The award was received by Principal Rimpi Arora, science teacher Palwinder Kaur and students Chandani, Sonakshi, Deepika, Anmoldeep Kaur and Prabhjot of Class VI at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Kot Khalsa. The students, along with their mentor Palvinder Kaur, were recognised for featuring in the list of 20 best projects submitted for the Earthian Award.
Palvinder Kaur and the students had been working on the theme of solid waste management around the year, planning and implementing collection, segregation and reuse of wet, dry and plastic waste. The project was assigned by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology in collaboration with Wipro.
