Best poster award for GNDU researcher

Amritsar: Aditya Singh, working as the CSIR-SRF under the supervision of Dr Vandana Bhalla in the Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, has received the best poster award at the 29th CRSI national symposium in chemistry (CRSI-NSC) held at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali, from July 7 to 9. Aditya Singh presented the poster entitled “Phenazine-based supramolecular photosensitizing assemblies: A ‘smart’ control on catalytic activity of Pd (II) nanoparticles”. The work describes the role of phenazine-based supramolecular assemblies (PPA) which show strong affinity toward Pd2+ ions to generate the stable nanocatalyst PPA @Pdnanoparticles (NPs), which catalyses Suzuki cross-coupled reaction under mild conditions with recyclability up to seven cycles without much change in the reaction yields. The efficiency of PPA@Pd NPs to catalyse the Suzuki cross-coupled reactions has been demonstrated for gram-scale synthesis as well as for the preparation of unsymmetrically substituted terphenyl. The present work reveals the significant contribution of phenzaine-based supramolecular assemblies in overcoming the formation of side products.
