Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose remembered

Amritsar: Dr Rabindranath Tagore Literary Club of Goodwill International School organised a special assembly to celebrate 127th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Seeratjot Kaur of Class IX presented a speech on life history of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and his contribution to the freedom struggle. Netaji coined the term ‘Jai Hind’ and also gave a strong message to his countrymen — “you give me blood, I will give you freedom”. A poster making competition was also held for secondary classes. Sameet Kaur of Class VI, Prabhnoor Kaur, a student of Class VI and Jasnoor Kaur of the VIIIth Class obtained first, second and third positions, respectively. Director-principal Jasbinder Kaur presided over the programme and appreciated the teachers and students for their active participation.

Road safety awareness programme

In a proactive move towards enhancing road safety and fostering responsible commuting, Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) launched a traffic awareness session under “My Bharat” initiative by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with Traffic Police Commissionerate. The campaign, orchestrated by the traffic education cell, aimed to instil a sense of responsibility and adherence to traffic rules among the college community. Students engaged in lively conversation about the significance of traffic laws, safe driving techniques, and the far-reaching repercussions of breaking them. Spokesperson of the event were SI Daljit Singh and HC Salwant Singh from the traffic education cell, who emphasised the vital role that educational institutions play in promoting road safety. He addressed common traffic violations and highlighted the potential consequences of irresponsible behaviour on the road.

SSM College lifts sports trophy

SSM College won the Guru Nanak Dev University Overall General Sports Championship trophy (‘B’ Division 2022-23) consecutively 17 times by marking clear lead every time. On this historical moment, Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Department of Sports and Youth Services, professor Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice- Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and Dr Kanwar Mandeep Singh, Director Sports, GNDU, Amritsar, honoured college principal RK Tuli and Mukhwinder Singh Randhawa, head, Department of Physical Education, by presenting this prestigious trophy during a function held at the university campus. Principal RK Tuli on this elated moment said that our sportspersons have done well by winning different competitions held at university, inter-university, national and international levels. They have also participated and bagged top positions in Khelo India Competitions.
