Subsidy for jobless youth

Amritsar: The district administration has asked unemployed youth to register their names with the department of Employment Generation and Training Bureau for availing subsidy on purchase of commercial passenger vehicles under the ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Scheme’ of the state government till February 4. Officials of the district administration said the selected candidate would get a subsidy of Rs 75,000 or 15 per cent of the cost of the vehicle, whichever is less. The unemployed youth aspiring to buy an auto-rickshaw would get a subsidy of Rs 50,000. The candidate should be in the age group of 21-45 years as on November 1, 2019. The candidate must have passed class VIII standard exam with valid driving license. Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh Dhillion said the candidates were required to fill and submit the application form available at www.pbemployment.punjab.gov.in with the District Employment Generation office till February 4. Four arrested with toy pistol

Tarn Taran: The Goindwal Sahib police on Wednesday busted a gang of robbers and arrested four of its members from the outskirts of Fatehbad township, 20 km from here. The police seized a toy pistol and three snatched mobile phones from their possession. Inspector Harinder Singh said a case under Sections 411 and 414 of the IPC had been registered. The accused have been identified as Lovepreet Singh, Jagrup Singh of Tur, Karambir Singh of Rasulpur and Gurpreet Singh Sangha of Chambal village, Harinder Singh said. He said the arrested persons were allegedly involved in robbery incidents on the Tarn Taran-Goindwal Sahib road, besides in a snatching incident at Sheikh Chakk village. oc

Two arrested with heroin

Tarn Taran: A team of the Special Task Force (STF), led by ASI Garinder Singh, on Wednesday arrested two persons on motorcycle and seized 300 gm of heroin from them. The accused have been identified as Romesh Kumar of Jandiala Guru and Sukhdev Singh Gebu of Jeobala village. oc
