An unidentified elderly person allegedly attempted suicide in the ‘amrit sarovar’ of the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Saturday morning.

Vigilant sevadars, members of the Golden Temple Task Force and devotees immediately took out the person.

SGPC officials said the person was taken to hospital and his identity was yet to be ascertained as he was not medically fit to answer any question.

The said the police had been informed about the incident.
