Tarn Taran: The Sanyukt Samaj Morcha declared Surjit Singh Bhura, vice-president of the Border Area Farmers’ Welfare Society, as its candidate for the Khemkaran Vidhan Sabha constituency. The kisan leader said he had been working for the welfare of the border area farmers who had been facing problems to cultivate their land situated across the fence on the Indo-Pak border. Virsa Sinjh Valtoha is the SAD candidate and Sarwan Singh Dhunn is the AAP candidate from Khemkaran constituency. The Congress party was yet to declare its candidate from the seat. Sukhpal Singh Bhullar is representing the constituency as the Congress candidate. His father Gurchet Singh Bhullar was also in the race to get the ticket from the constituency. OC

An appeal — Get booster dose

Amritsar: Health officials have appealed to residents who have received both doses nine months ago to get the third precautionary dose. Senior Medical Officer at Community Health Centre, Mannawala, Sumit Singh said the vaccination drive was conducted on all days of the week, including public holidays. The SMO, who took his third jab recently, said: “The third dose or the precautionary dose has helped people as they experienced minor symptoms after being infected.” He said at present senior citizens, health workers, frontline workers and persons with comorbidities were eligible for the third dose.
