Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced that a Centre for Excellence and Ethical Artificial Intelligence will be set up at Guru Nanak Dev University. The news came at a special commemorative event held on the campus in memory of Padma Shri Punjabi poet Surjit Patar.
Stressing on the need to use latest technology tools to archive and preserve the literary works of noted Punjabi writers and poets, including Surjit Patar, Mann said that the government will provide a budget and infrastructure support for the setting up of the centre.
The chief minister also announced that the state government will confer an award in the name of Surjit Patar for rising Punjabi poets.
Guru Nanak Dev University, in collaboration with Punjab Kala Parishad in Chandigarh and Department of Languages in Punjab’s Patiala, had extended an open invitation to poets, writers and intellectuals to attend the 2025 Surjit Patar Memorial Ceremony being held at the Golden Jubilee Convention Centre in the campus today.
