SUV catches fire in Kapurthala, no casualties

Panic ensued on Sunday afternoon when a parked Bolero caught fire on Amritsar road in Kapurthala. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

According to fire department officials, the vehicle (PB-02-CP-7634) belonged to Surinder Singh, a resident of Jhalla Thikriwal village. He had come to Kapurthala for some personal work and parked his car near a shop before stepping away. Moments later, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

Upon receiving the alert, a five-member team from the fire brigade department, led by officer Gurpreet Singh, arrived promptly at the scene. The team managed to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes.

Speaking to reporters, the officer stated, “We received the emergency call. Our team responded immediately and ensured that the fire was contained before it could spread.” While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, preliminary assessments suggest a possible short circuit.

The authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire. No injuries or loss of life have been reported.
