Target-killing module busted, 1 arrested with weapons

The Amritsar Rural Police have busted a target-killing module linked to the Doni Ball and Amar Khabbe Rajpootan gang, arresting a dangerous sharpshooter in a swift operation. The accused, Baljinder Singh, alias Bunty, a resident of Udonangal, was caught with a .30-bore pistol, three live cartridges and a motorcycle. Acting on a secret tip-off, the police apprehended him near the Rakhe Shah turn.

During interrogation, investigators learned that Bunty had been working as a sharpshooter for the gang and had carried out targeted killings at their direction. He was also involved in the illegal supply of weapons and heroin.

The operation was executed by the Mehta police station team under the supervision of SSP (Rural) Suhail Mir, SP (Detective) Aditya Warrier, DSP (Detective) Gurinder Singh, and Jandiala DSP Ravinder Singh.

Officials revealed that the accused has a lengthy criminal history and had previously been named in seven cases under the Arms Act and the NDPS Act. He was also wanted in a case involving the recovery of over 3 kg of heroin, a pistol and a substantial amount of drug money. His past offences, registered at the SSOC, Amritsar, and the Mehta police station between 2017 and 2025, include narcotics smuggling, illegal weapons possession and other criminal activities.

The police said efforts are underway to trace additional members of the module and uncover further criminal plans linked to the gang. A case has been registered at the Mehta police station under Sections 25(8), 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. Further investigation is in progress.
