The district administration has taken all steps to hold free and fair Lok Sabha elections. The Lok Sabha constituency which falls in Tarn Taran district is Khadoor Sahib which is just a village but serves as headquarters of the sub-division. Khadoor Sahib is a village with rich religious heritage as seven of the 10 Sikh masters (Gurus) visited the place. The river Beas adds beauty to the rich heritage of Khadoor Sahib, passing through villages in the area. Khadoor Sahib was established by the second Sikh Master Guru Angad Dev ji. Another religious place, Sri Goindwal Sahib, is just four kilometers away from Khadoor Sahib. After delimitation, Tarn Taran became the headquarters of the Lok Sabha constituency. Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, informed that at this stage when the parliamentary elections are expected to be announced soon, all necessary steps have been taken for the smooth conduct of polls. To make the voters aware about their working, Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is being sent to all the villages of the four Vidhan Sabha constituencies. Two mobile vans have been sent to villages in each Vidhan Sabha area. There are a total of nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies under Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat. These nine constituencies are Tarn Taran, Patti, Khadoor Sahib, Khem Karan (Tarn Taran), Baba Bakala, Jandiala Guru (Amritsar district), Zira (Ferozepur), Kapurthala and Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala district). The Deputy Commissioner-cum-DEO said that the voters were being made aware about the need to come out and cast their votes in large numbers. The DC-cum-DEO held a meeting of all nodal officers to manage the arrangements in their respective areas.
