The family of Sarabjit Kaur (29), daughter of Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Jawanda Kalan (Tarn Taran), which had been denied justice by the police for more than a month, could succeed in forcing the police to redress their grievances only with the assistance of ‘Aurat Mukti Morcha’ (AMM). Sarabjit Kaur, who belongs to the family of a marginalised farmer, was working in the fields along with her parents to sow the wheat crop on November 23, when six members of a family nearby attacked them. According to the official records, the assailants physically hit Sarabjit Kaur and even tore her garments. The assailants also beat up her father Lakhbir Singh. He was injured badly in the assault. The elder married sister who had come to see her parents, intervened to rescue her sister and father, but she too was hit by the assailants. Sarabjit Kaur approached the Sarhali police to lodge a complaint against the assailants the next day but the police ignored the complaint. She repeatedly visited the police station but was denied justice. She approached Narinder Kaur, a leader of Aurat Mukti Morcha, who too approached the Sarhali police and demanded justice for the victim's family. Even then, the police ignored the complaint of Sarabjit Kaur. The women's organisation, ‘AMM’, led by Narinder Kaur, gave a memorandum to the district police demanding justice for the sufferer's family and warned to stage an agitation in case the grievance was not redressed. Still, the police paid no heed. The activists of the AMM led by Narinder Kaur staged a dharna in front of the office of the DSP, Patti, on a rainy day in the area.

DSP Gurkirpal Singh assured the protesting activists of action against the alleged guilty. At last, a few days back, Sarhali police registered a case under relevant heinous sections of BNS against six persons, including three women and three men, which included the head of a family, his two sons, two daughters- in-law and another woman. The victim Sarabjit Kaur, has done her BA, B.Ed. and is doing her MA privately. Her two elder sisters are married and settled in their respective in-laws’ houses. Her lone brother has gone to Australia six months back. Her aged parents are unable to work in the fields and she herself looks after farming, including sowing and harvesting of crops. Sarabjit Kaur said that she was discharging all responsibilities of the family, reared milch cattle and sold milk to earn money to make both ends meet. She is yet to pay back the loan taken to send her younger brother to Australia. She also gives tuition online with her web channel. Sarabjit Kaur has shown the way to society to follow. It seems that the only way to get justice is that of the Aurat Mukti Morcha which launched an agitation in support of a girl in which the role of victim Sarabjit Kaur deserves all appreciation.Message to keep physically fit delivered

Sometime back, a car occupant and motorcyclist died when the car suffered a tyre puncture after hitting a deep pit on the road and collided with the motorcycle going ahead near the Amritsar-Chabal bypass in Tarn Taran town, The car born belonged to a police personnel. The fatal tragedy has failed to awaken the administration, to repair even the main road of the town. The main road of Tarn Taran town, from Amritsar-Chabal bypass to Sarhali road T-Point, has developed deep and extensive pits at several points but the administration appears to be unconcerned. Local residents have been demanding that the road be repaired without a break but there is no one to pay attention.
