Tarn Taran Municipal Council poll: No candidate files papers
On the first day of the filing nomination papers for the election of 25-member Municipal Council (MC) of Tarn Taran, not even a single candidate filed his/her nomination papers on Monday. The polling for the MC House has been fixed on March 2.
The last date of filing nomination papers is February 20. Harjinder Singh Sandhu, District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO)-cum-Returning Officer for Ward No. 1 to 13 and Ikbal Singh, Naib Tehsildar-cum-Assistant Returning Officer for Ward No. 14 to 25 confirmed that no candidate filed nomination papers on Monday.
The election schedule for the municipal council was released on Sunday. Candidates visited office of the MC on Monday for the required documents like the NOC for dues paid to the civic body, including drinking water, sewerage and other charges.
