Tarn Taran police start night patrolling

The district police have initiated night patrolling and checking to curtail the crime rate in the district and to reflect its strong commitment to provide security to the public.

The police face embarrassing situation due to frequent incidents of firing by gangsters at night and rising incidents of theft, robbery, snatching, etc, are affecting businesses of area resients.

Shopkeepers of Tarn Taran, Chhabal, Bhikhiwind and Chohla Sahib had been protesting against regular incidents of thefts and demanding night patrolling by the police. The rising incidents of crime have created fear among residents who rarely dare come out of their houses, especially at night, even for their duty or business purposes.

SP (Detective) Ajayraj Singh said here on Saturday that the number of nakas have been increased and more police personnel provided to boost security. The nakas at the entry point to the district were put on special attention, said SP Ajayraj Singh.

Political leader Pargat Singh Jamarai said the law and order situation in the district has been deteriorating as in rural areas gangsters were ruling the roost and general people were living at their mercy.
