Vikramdev Singh, state president of the Democratic Teachers Front Punjab, has condemned the negligence shown by the Education Department regarding the teacher transfer process. Every year, the e-Punjab portal opens the online transfer application process in June and completes it by July. Teachers eligible for transfers are required to apply online and select their preferred stations.

“Although the transfer process on the e-Punjab portal started on June 6, almost the entire month of July has passed, and teachers have still been unable to access the portal for station selection. Those who have been waiting for transfers for a long time are growing increasingly frustrated with the delay. The reasons previously given by Education Department officials to various organisations and other sources for the delay have proven to be false, and this year the transfer process remains pending,” said Vikramdev Singh.

Democratic Teachers Front leader Germanjit Singh added that the department’s failure to complete transfers on time and its preference for deputations over transfers, reflects political interference in the department. The leaders demanded that the transfer portal be opened immediately for station selection and that teachers promoted from ETT to Master Cadre, Master Cadre to Lecturer Cadre, and PTI to DPE at remote stations be given the opportunity to apply for transfers as well.
