Teachers’ union donates Rs 2 lakh for flood victims

The Elementary Teachers’ Union Amritsar (Regd), under the leadership of its state president Harjinderpal Singh Pannu, today handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney, as contribution to the flood relief fund.

Pannu said the people of Amritsar district have suffered a lot due to the floods. “Therefore, our organisation has given a cheque of Rs 2 lakh for the rehabilitation of the flood-affected people.”

Union leaders added that their organisation is providing help to people in the flood-affected areas across Punjab, under which Rs 21 lakh has been donated by the Elementary Teachers Union Punjab (Regd).

District Education Officer (Elementary) Kanwaljit Singh, present on the occasion, praised the organisation for the initiative and said the Primary Education Department of the district is also contributing to the flood-affected work.
