Theatre veteran Kewal Dhaliwal said organising the festival was the idea of young theatre professionals and it was supported by young entrepreneurs.

“Jammu has always produced good theatre artistes who have been critically acclaimed at the national level. The aim of organising the festival is an attempt to support good theatre and a bunch of bravehearts, who are trying to take Jammu’s theatre to other places, must be supported wholeheartedly,” he said.

On the first day, the festival will begin with Vikram Sharma’s ‘Vani-Dafan’ and will also host eminent theatre personality Bansi Kaul. Eight plays will be staged in eight days, including ‘Rubaroo’ of noted director Kajal Suri.

“Amritsar has been an epicentre of theatre activities in the region. We are glad to bring our festival to the city. After Amritsar, the last leg of the festival will be held in Jaipur. We will keep organising activities throughout the calendar year. We are hopeful of reaching out to many more theatre lovers with some of the notable works of thespians,” said Anuroop.
