Three accused of vehicle robbery arrested with firearm

Acting on a tip-off about a gang active on the GT Road and staying at a nearby hotel, the police conducted a routine checking operation that led to the arrests.
Those arrested have been identified as Arjan Singh, a resident of Suba Barek Singh village, Satnam Singh and Gursewak Singh, both residents of Mianwind in Tarn Taran district. According to Station House Officer (SHO) Harchand Singh, the police received secret information about a gang, involved in vehicle robberies, operating near the highway.
Acting swiftly, a police team set up a checkpoint near Dana Pani Hotel on the GT Road. During the operation, three individuals were spotted approaching from the Jandiala Guru side in a vehicle without a registration number. The police signalled them to stop and conducted an inquiry.
During the search, one of the individuals was found in possession of a .32 bore pistol. Upon interrogation, the accused revealed they had planned to rob a vehicle that night from the highway. It was also discovered that they have a prior criminal records with multiple cases already registered against them. Further investigation revealed that the gang typically stays at roadside hotels on GT Road while planning and executing their crimes. Once they receive a target, they strike, steal the vehicle, and then sell it in other regions. In this particular case, the suspects admitted they intended to steal an SUV and sell it in the Malwa region for approximately Rs 4.5 lakh.
The police have registered a case against the accused and are in the process of obtaining their remand to trace other members of the gang, including the potential buyer of the stolen vehicle. SHO Harchand Singh assured that this is part of a larger operation to bust the entire gang. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
