Three booked for immigration fraud

Amritsar, November 17

The city police have booked two Delhi residents among three persons for duping a local resident of Rs 10.75 lakh on the pretext of getting him settled abroad.

Those booked have been identified as Himani Sharma, Abhishek Bhandari, both residents of Moti Nagar, New Delhi, and Ranvir Partap of Majitha road.

Richat Sharma stated to the police that the accused took Rs 10.75 lakh for getting him settled in Canada, but they didn’t keep their promise. The police registered the case following a probe by the economic offence wing and the ADCP (Investigations).

According to the police, a complaint was lodged in Feburary this year. Sections 420, 406 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act have been slapped. No arrest has been made so far.
