Three-day meet on diabetic foot care from tomorrow

A three-day international conference, with focus on advancements in diabetic foot care, put together by the Diabetic Foot Society of India (DFSI), would be held here from October 31 to November 2.

Organised in association with Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, and Amandeep Hospital, in partnership with Ujala Cygnus, the conference will bring together some of the most prominent national and international experts in diabetic foot management.

The event aims to serve as a major platform for sharing the latest advancements in diabetic wound care, surgery and rehabilitation. Featuring master classes, interactive sessions and skill enhancement workshops, the conference is expected to host over 800 delegates, from India and abroad.

"We are thrilled to host the conference that will showcase the latest developments in diabetic foot care," said Dr Ravi Kumar Mahajan, Organising Chairman. He said that their goal is to empower healthcare professionals with updated knowledge and skills to improve outcomes for patients suffering from diabetic foot complications.

Dr Vikas Kakkar, Organising Secretary, added that the event holds special significance for North India. "This conference is being held in the region after a gap of 11 years. It is a great opportunity to raise awareness about diabetic foot management," he said.

The distinguished national faculty includes Dr Arun Bal, Founder-President, DFSI; Dr Ashu Rastogi, PGI, Chandigarh; Dr Sunil Gabba, PGI, Chandigarh; Dr VB Narayan Murti, Chennai; Dr Raja Sabavati; Dr Sanjay Vaidya; Dr Bharat Kotru; Dr Puneet Arora; Dr Rajeev Khanna; and, Dr Rohit Kapoor.

The international faculty comprises Prof Luiz Martinez (Italy), Prof Windy Cole (USA), Prof Catherine Gooday (UK), Prof Venu Kavarthapu (London), Prof Zulfikarali Abbas (Tanzania), Prof Robbert Bem (Czech Republic), Prof Harikrishna Nair (Malaysia) and Prof JP Hong (South Korea). A pre-conference cadaveric workshop on October 30 will focus on surgical procedures. In addition, a public walkathon on October 31 at Rose Garden, Ranjit Avenue, will promote awareness about diabetic foot care.
