Three held with arms, narcotics in Amritsar
Pak smuggling links exposed; probe on to identify other members
In a major breakthrough against cross-border smuggling, the Amritsar Rural Police Special Cell arrested three men and recovered arms, narcotics and other items from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Karanbir Singh of Srai Amanat Khan, Husandeep Singh and Sahilpreet Singh, both residents of Cheema Kalan.
The police said during the initial probe, it came to light that the trio was in direct touch with Pakistan-based smugglers through WhatsApp and was part of an active supply chain.
The recovery included a Glock pistol (9 mm), a Zigana pistol (.30 bore), 532 grams of opium, a motorcycle and four mobile phones.
Officials stated that the arrests mark a significant success in curbing the smuggling of drugs and weapons across the border. Further investigations are in progress to trace their handlers and to identify other members of the
network.
