Three-member heroin gang busted in Chabal

The Chabal police have busted a three-member gang of heroin smugglers on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. A woman member of the gang was arrested with 701 gram of heroin.

The gang had been operating from a residence in Bhanbhar Colony in Chabal. The police said the accused has been identified as Sharanjit Kaur, alias Shanno, a resident of Algon Kothi. Her husband, Happy Singh, alias Happy, and their associate Harinder Singh of Chabal managed to escape from the spot.

Police officials said the premises of the accused were searched under the supervision of DSP Sukhbir Singh, during which 701 gm of heroin was recovered. The police added that the gang had been actively involved in heroin smuggling.

A case under Sections 21-C, 27-A, 61 and 85 has been registered, and the police have initiated raids to nab the absconding accused.
