The Kathunangal police have arrested three more suspects in connection with the Nambardar Bhagwant Singh murder case. He was shot dead by armed assailants on September 25 at Sarhala village here.

Those arrested were identified as Vijay, Vikas and Rashpal Singh, all residents of Mardi Kalan village. Till now, the police have nabbed six persons. Earlier, the police had arrested Amanpreet Singh, Daler Singh and Jagmanpreet Singh of the same village. The police have recovered a bike used in the crime from their possession.

Giving details, SHO Khushboo Sharma said a dispute between schoolchildren took an ugly turn with a youth, accompanied by armed accomplices, shooting dead Nambardar Bhagwant Singh at Sarhala village over two weeks ago.

The assailants, who arrived in two cars, barged into the victim’s residence and opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. Responding swiftly, earlier the police had arrested three suspects within 24 hours — Amanpreet Singh, Daler Singh, and Jagmanpreet Singh — all from Mardi Kalan village and a licensed revolver and a car were seized from them at that time.
