Training held for govt SMC members

Under the Punjab Sikhiya Kranti campaign, the Education Department organised a one-day block-level training camp for the newly formed School Management Committee (SMC) members and office-bearers of government schools of Education Block Amritsar-1 under the direction of Education Minister of Punjab Harjot Singh Bains. District Education Officer (Elementary) Kanwaljit Singh Sandhu, while addressing the members of the committee, said that training camps are being organised from September 29 to October 15 to educate the management committee members of 827 primary and 418 upper primary schools of Amritsar district.

"The camp is to ensure that School Management Committee members, including teachers from respective schools, know in detail about the overall development initiatives, their responsibilities towards the school and the department, as well as to educate them about the measures to be taken to connect school dropouts again with school education. More than 75 per cent of the committee members belonging to the district have been trained under a special directive and training being given to the school management committee members will play an important role in boosting government school education," said DEO (Elementary) Kanwaljit Singh.

The teachers were also briefed about the upcoming parent-teacher meet to be held in government schools of the state. The parent-teacher meeting will be organised on October 17 instead of October 13 according to the new schedule.

Rajesh Kumar Sharma, District Education Officer, informed that during the parent-teacher meeting to be held in all government primary, middle, high and senior secondary schools of the district on October 17, the progress of the students of classes 1 to 5, 6 to 8 and 9 to 10 in the Term Examination-1 held in September will be discussed besides other achievements to ensure further progress.
