Transformer oil stolen, 5 held

Amritsar: Five persons, who were involved in stealing oil from power transformers, were held in two separate incidents. The accused had confessed to committing around 24 thefts. Those arrested were Satnam Singh, alias Mithu, of Atalgarh; Sukhwinder Singh Sukh of Ghanupur Kale; Manpreet Singh, alias Gola, of Jhabal; Balwinder Singh of Khandwala and Sukhpreet Singh, alias Dana, of the Chatiwind area. DCP Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar said 210 litres of oil was seized from Satnam and Sukhwinder. Similarly, the police confiscated 200-litre oil from Manpreet and Balwinder. Their interrogation led to the arrest of Sukhpreet Dana who used to procure the stolen oil from them. The DCP said they had admitted to two dozens of thefts, in which they had stolen around 6,500 litres of oil from power transformers. Further probe is on. TNS

Tarn Taran: The KVK, GADVASU, Booh (Tarn Taran); ICAR-ATARI Zone-1, Ludhiana, and ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi, held a webinar on “Vegetable production in India: problems and prospects”, wherein over 100 progressive farmers, students and experts of the Horticulture Department participated.
