Translate Gurbani to reach every corner of the world, says Sri Sri

Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar delivered a foundation day lecture on the 50th golden jubilee celebrations at the Guru Nanak Dev University on Sunday.
Academicians, scholars, students and eminent personalities participated in the celebrations. On the occasion, a folklore exhibition and painting exhibition were also conducted.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, in his lecture, talked about the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said the contribution of Punjab in the existence of Bharat could not be denied. He said Punjab was also a land of a sixth river and this sixth river could be stated as river of wisdom and knowledge, which flowed because 550 years back, Guru Nanak blessed this land.
He said: “The real tribute to 550th Parkash Purb is to serve humanity by preaching Gurbani by translating it into various languages to make it reach all corners of the world. In line with the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, youth must stay away from drugs.”
“When Guru Nanak came, there were a lot of evils such as casteism, gender inequality and degradation of values with orthodox society. He gave the message of oneness.” he said.
Chiranjiv Singh, former Ambassador of India to the UNESCO, delivered an academic lecture. He told students how Guru Nanak attained enlightenment. He also highlighted the role of a teacher in the age of internet. Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, vice-chancellor, presented a report of development of the university since its inception. Prof SS Behl, Dean (academic affairs), presented a vote of thanks while Prof KS Kahlon, Registrar, coordinated the event. Prof Anish Dua conducted the proceedings. MP Gurjit Singh Aujla and a large number of dignitaries were also present.
Students denied entry
Satinder Singh and Avneet Kaur, students of the Guru Nanak Dev University, alleged that they were not allowed entry to the foundation day functions, on instructions of their officiating head Amarjit Singh.
Both, Satinder and Avneet, are students of the Centre on Studies in Sri Guru Granth Sahib of the university.
When contacted Amarjit Singh, officiating director of the Centre refuted the allegations and said no orders were passed against their entry.
