People from all walks of life paid tributes to Comrade Balwinder Singh Bhikhiwind (61), a Shaurya Chakra awardee, during a congregation organised at Bhikhiwind, 35 km from here, on Monday.

Balwinder Singh, who had fought against terrorism, was shot dead by assailants at his residence-cum- school on October 16.

The bhog of Akhand Path was performed for the peace of the departed soul. Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, MLA (Khemkaran), Comrade Mangat Ram Palsa, national general secretary of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) and Virsa Singh Valtoha, SAD leader and former MLA, were present.
