Tricolour to be hoisted atop all houses on Independence Day
Amritsar, July 27
Under the campaign “Har Ghar Tiranga” launched by the Government of India on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Independence, the district administration has started preparations to make the national flag accessible to everyone.
The Centre has issued instructions that Tricolour will be hoisted in every household on Independence Day.
Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh Sudan directed the District Development and Panchayat Department to work as a nodal agency to carry out this campaign and said that they should arrange national flags according to the number of houses in the district. “These flags will be placed within the reach of the said houses. If so, a framework should be prepared for this as well,” he directed.
He said, “Our effort will be that the national flag is available in every village and people can hoist it at their homes and offices with respect, as per their wish.”
The Deputy Commissioner said the Central government had fixed the rates according to the size of the flag. A large size flag (20×30 inches) is priced at Rs 25, a smaller one (16×24 inches) at Rs 18 and the smallest one, which is 6×9 inches, is priced at Rs 9. According to the demand, the national flags will be provided by the government, but if need increases they can be made at the local level as well.
He asked the District Development and Panchayat Department to rope in village and city officials, elected representatives, media workers, schools, colleges, technical institutions, cooperative societies, milk producer societies, anganwadi and Asha workers and traders in this regard.
