Tarn Taran, January 24
A team of the local CIA staff on Friday arrested two persons from the railway underbridge at Rataul village and seized 656 gm of heroin and a computerised weigh bridge from them.
SSP Dhruv Dahiya informed newsmen that the arrested accused had been identified as Sham Lal and Sahil Malhotra of Amritsar. The accused had purchased the consignment from Bobby Malhotra and Munish of Gilwali Gate, Amritsar, who were yet to be arrested, the SSP said.
The accused have been booked under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.
The SSP said raids were on to nab the other two accused.
In another case, the city police led by ASI Sukhdev Singh arrested Ranjit Singh Rana of Teja Singh Wala and Gurnej Singh of Navan Pind Dalake and seized 1 gm of heroin, injection syringes and a sharp-edge weapon from them. The accused were arrested from the outskirts of the town on the Jhabal road. The accused have been booked under the NDPS and the Arms Act.
