Tarn Taran, December 14
A team of the local CIA staff on Saturday arrested two persons, while two of their accomplices managed to escape, on the Tarn Taran-Amritsar road near Gohalwar village and seized more than I kg of heroin from their possession.
The city police registered a case under Sections 21, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.
On the instructions of SSP Dhruv Dahiya, SP (Headquarters) Gaurav Toora informed newsmen here today that the arrested persons had been identified as Akash Sandhu of Golbagh and Sandeep Singh Sonu of Bhagtupur village in Amritsar district. The escaped persons have been identified as Danish and Pinder, alias Gattu, of Amritsar, the SP said.
He said the CIA team led by Sub-Inspector Baldev Singh during a routine checking saw two persons near Gohalwar village on two motorcycles exchanging something packed in a plastic bag. On seeing the police they fled the spot but the police managed to arrest them and seized 1,025 gm of heroin from them.
The SP added on Friday the police and the Border Security Force (BSF) in a joint search operation seized three packets containing 2.9 kg of heroin from across the fence buried under the earth. The Patti Sadar police have registered a case under Section 21, 29, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act, said the SP.
Another haul in city
Amritsar: Acting on a tip-off, the Amritsar rural police on Saturday confiscated 1kg of heroin from a drug peddler identified as Harjeet Singh of Fatehwal village falling under the Ajnala police station here. He was nabbed from the Khasa area. The contraband was hidden under the seats of Mahindra Bolero. Preliminary probe revealed that he brought the consignment from another notorious drug peddler whose name was yet to be disclosed.
