Tarn Taran: Two booked for cheating stepmom

Two real brothers, residents of Sarai Amanat Khan village, have been booked for cheating their stepmother by declaring her dead to grab a property. ASI Karam Singh of the Sarai Amanat Khan police station said here today that the suspects were identified as Bhupinder Singh and his brother Narinder Singh.

The ASI said as the wife of Baldev Singh, father of the suspects had died, he got married to a woman identified as Kashmir Kaur in 2002. Baldev Singh died in 2022 and the suspects started maltreating their stepmother. The suspects prepared a fake death certificate of Kashmir Kaur. They got their father’s property registered in their names on the basis of fake death certificate.

When Kashmir Kaur came to know about this, she approached the district police and the matter was investigated by a DSP. On the basis of the findings of the investigation report of the DSP, the suspects were booked under Sections 318 (4) of the BNS on Sunday. The suspects were absconding, the ASI said.
