Amritsar: The Mattewal police on Tuesday booked two persons for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at Bagga village near Mattewal. The accused have been identified as Goradeen of Kaler village and Sarmudeen of Fattu Bheela village. The victim in her complaint to the police stated that she went to her uncle’s house on January 25. When she was returning home the accused met her in fields and took her on a heap of paddy straw. They tied dupatta around her mouth and raped her. After raping they fled the spot, the girl alleged. The victim narrated the incident to her parents and then went to the Mattewal police station and filed a complaint against the accused. The accused have been booked under Sections 376-D and 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Woman elopes with paramour
Tarn Taran: A woman has eloped with her paramour taking away jewellery worth lakhs and cash from her in-laws’ house. The local Sadar police have registered a case under Sections 380, 120-B and 406 of the IPC against the woman and her paramour. The incident took place on the intervening night of January 20-21, while the case was registered on January 27. The accused have been identified as Gurpinder Kaur of Reshiana and her paramour Yodhbir Singh of Dhunda. Ranjodh Singh, husband of Gurpinder Kaur, in his complaint to the police said that on January 20, he along with other family members was sleeping at his home. When he woke up early in the morning he found her wife Gurpinder Kaur missing. He also alleged that she decamped with gold jewellery and cash worth Rs2.9 lakh. OC
Assets of 3 drug dealers freezed
Tarn Taran: The district police have frozen property worth Rs 14.54 crore of three more smugglers under the NDPS Act. With this, the total value of property freezed by the police has risen to 37 crore in the district. SSP Dhruv Dahiya said here on Tuesday that property, moveable and immovable assets, worth Rs 10.59 crore of Jagdev Singh, alias Jagga of Sherion (Sarhali) village had been freezed. The district police have received orders of the competent authority for freezing assets of drug peddlers. Similarly, the police freezed property worth Rs 1.54 crore belonging to Avtar Singh of Sheron village and worth Rs 2.41 crore of Satnam Singh of Marhana (Chohla Sahib) village. OC
Fraud: 2 Travel agents booked
Amritsar: Two Ludhiana-based travel agents were booked for duping Rs13 lakh from a local resident on the pretext of sending him abroad. The accused have been identified as Harsh Mahajan, Satish Mahajan, both residents of Vishal Nagar Extension at Pakhowal Road Ludhiana.Gagandeep Singh, victim in his complaint to the police, said the accused took Rs13 lakh on the pretext of sending him Canada. Parvinder Kaur, Assistant Commissioner of Police, conducted an enquiry and registered a case under Sections 420, 120-B of the IPC and 13 of the Punjab Traveling Regulation Professional Act. No arrest has been made so far. TNS
