Two residents of Harike, 32 km from here, have been booked for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl. The police said that the accused had been identified as Akash and Gopi.

According to information, they took the girl to some undisclosed location in a car when she was waiting for her parents outside her house. Her parents were away for some work when the incident occurred. Upon returning, they found their daughter missing. They searched for her. Meanwhile, they saw her coming to the house weeping. When asked, she told them that the accused had raped her.

The girl was medically examined after which it was confirmed that she was raped. Sections 376, 506, 34 of the IPC , and Section 4 of the POCSO Act have been slapped.
