Area residents had gathered at Gurdwara Gupatsar Muthianwala for the annual fair and the victims, too, had gone to attend the congregation. Jagwinderjit Singh Grewal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), said the rescue operations were launched by the divers under the supervision of Alka Kalia, SDM, Patti, but the bodies could not be traced so far. The ADC said the flow of the river water was also reduced for speedy rescue operation. It being a border area, chances are that the bodies might have flown towards the Pakistani territory and may cause hindrance in the rescue operation. The Ferozepur administration, too, was on its toes as the river falls under it, whereas the victims are residents of Tarn Taran district. The BSF, too, was participating in the rescue operation besides the police and other official agencies.
