The district administration has inaugurated two OOAT (Out Patient Opioid Assisted Treatment) clinics in the district to provide better treatment to patients (drug-addicts), taking the total of such centres in the district to 13.
One clinic was opened in the Civil Hospital, Patti, and the other in the Primary Health Centre, Harike. The clinics were inaugurated by MLA Harminder Singh Gill and Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, respectively.
While addressing a gathering in Patti on the occasion, MLA Harminder Singh Gill appreciated the efforts of the state government to provide free treatment to drug-addicts as well as rehabilitate them.
In his address, Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal said there were 11 OOAT centres in government-run hospitals in Tarn Taran, Ghariala, Khemkaran, Sursing, Kairon, Mianwind, Sarhali, Tharu, Kasel, Khadoor Sahib and Bhagupur. He said a new centre would be set up in the Bhikhiwind hospital soon.
