A delegation of the district unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) led by its president Dinesh Gupta met Tarn Taran MLA Dr Kashmir Singh Sohal demanding that the sewage treatment plant (STP) of the town be made functional. Dr Gurkirat Singh Aulakh, secretary, while talking to the MLA, stressed that proper sewage treatment is mandatory for prevention of diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases.

MLA Dr Kashmir Singh Sohal assured the IMA members that he had been instrumental in setting the affairs of the Municipal Council in order and functioning of the STP is one of the top priorities for him. The IMA delegation also submitted a memorandum to the SDM, Tarn Taran, and stressed upon the need for a functional STP in the city.

It may be mentioned that there are two STPs in Tarn Taran and both are non-functional for more than four years.
